7. What priorities and priority relationships would you like to see included in the Welsh Government’s approach to international relations beyond 2025?
I would like more emphasis placed on enabling international experiences for all school-age children in Wales.
Whilst I appreciate it’s not realistic to provide funding to support exchange opportunities for all learners - I think in its approach to international relations beyond 2025, WG should enable all young people to at least be exposed to different cultures, customs, languages - and have an opportunity to engage and collaborate with young people in other countries.
A facilitated online network of schools would give learners across Wales enriched perspectives and understanding of the differences and similarities between people all over the world.
I sincerely believe that supporting schools to provide opportunities for learners to engage with peers on a transnational level will help broaden worldviews, raise aspirations, develop cross-cultural awareness and understanding, nurturing the next generation of ethical and informed global citizens.
8. Are there any other matters you would like to draw to the Committee’s attention regarding the Welsh Government’s international relations?
